Conference Travel Scholarships of AUD 1,000 each for overseas postgraduates and early-career researchers and AUD 800 each for postgraduates and early-career researchers from Australian universities are available for travel and accommodation support to attend the conference.

Conditions:

• Applicants must be from a university or institute of higher education in the Asia Pacific region (including Australia).
• Applicants must be full-time PhD candidates or Early-Career Researchers. Early-Career Researchers for the purpose of this application are defined as researchers who have graduated after January 2002.
  
• Funding will only be given to applicants who will be presenting a paper at the conference.
  
• The funds of up to $1,000 for overseas applicants and $800 for applicants in Australia are to be used for conference travel and accommodation purposes only and will be reimbursed after the conference.
• Attendance at the conference must be confirmed before reimbursement can be issued.
• Applicants' area of research must be closely linked to the conference theme.

You will need to submit an abstract of no more than 250 words for the paper that you are proposing to present at the conference, as well as a 2 page CV illustrating your research and publications record and how your area of work fits in with the theme of the conference. All abstracts submitted will be reviewed by two academics. Short listed applicants will be informed in August 2006. Short listed applicants will need to submit a 3000 word paper in September 2006 based on the submitted abstract which will be reviewed by specialist academics whose decision will be final. Successful applicants will be informed in October 2006.
No late application will be accepted due to the tight deadline.
